George Bush don’t like black people

Man, I hadn’t heard this before but it’s great… A remix of the Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’ …

Belly - Superconnected

I don’t really know what it is but I love the look of 90’s movies and music videos. They changed the film stock or something but you can really see the difference. But for certain music videos and movies (the Crow comes to mind) the end result these days is that it gives it a really piculiar feel…

Alex Guadino - Destination Calibria (Destination Unknown)

Probably one of the more suggestive music videos I can remember:

Gorbachov live @ the Treehouse sessions

I love these guys from home and here they are live @ the treehouse sessions… The media player they have on the site isn’t the best but the lads are well on form….

Juno & its surprisingly good soundtrack

the-juno-movie-poster_292x410.jpg
Saw Juno last night with one of the girls, while it’s not the sort of movie I’d go to see normally I have to admit I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. In tone, it’s quite similar to Amélie in the sense that while it is a romantic comedy its tone is rather different - it’s been a while since I’ve seen that many abortion jokes in the first 30 minutes of a movie…

Given that Valentine’s day is coming up,ye guys out there that are going to be stuck going to ‘romcoms’ could do worse, and for all of ye people who are into music the soundtrack for the film is unbelievably good - even during the parts of the movie where I was bored/getting uncomfortable with the ‘romcom’ elements/etc. the soundtrack proved highly entertaining.
Anyone Else But You - Pretty much THE stand-out song of the film.

”Under Barack Obama”

Seeing as it’s ‘Super-Duper Tuesday’ and so on I felt that some sort of acknowledgement of the day would possibly be worthwhile but as I am up to my eyes in study/research/panic at the moment this video will have to suffice. Thanks to Anthony for this:

Smoke on the Yangtze

A version of ‘Smoke on the water’ by Deep Purple by some Japanese (?) musicians which according to the comments should be ‘Smoke on the Biwa’ because of the ethnicity but… Thanks to Eugene for this.

Some interesting music here and there:

I’ve been a long-time fan of Tanya Donelly, since I heard her old band Belly from a friend years ago. This has lead me to Donelly’s stepsister Kristin Hersh and Juliana Hatfield who is another contemporary of the two. Imagine my pleasure to discover that all three women, whose music can be hard enough to obtain have relatively large sample’s of their music online for cheap. All three women operate on the ‘honour system’ with regards to downloads but take a look and see what you think…

Dan Le Sac Vs Scoobius Pip live

Long-term readers of the site may remember this lot:

Update: While I thought I’d get kinda tired of this the live show is really good - there’s a real poetry to the songs on display here.
