New Watchmen Photo’s Online

Here are a batch of photos put up for the new ‘Watchmen’ movie based on the Alan Moore graphic novel. I have to admit I’m getting horrible memories of Joel Schumacher’s ‘Batman & Robin’ but hopefully they’ll look better on screen. Some other ‘Watchmen’ related stuff I’ve posted here and here.

Does Snuff Exist?

Surprisingly good documentary on horror movies and supposed ’snuff’ movies. Granted, at the start it’s more of a history of certain types of ‘video nasties’ than about snuff itself but as it goes along it shows how there have been ‘possible examples’ of snuff. Interesting also is the ‘chicken or egg’ question. Does demand creaty supply or supply demand? The moors murders example was one I hadn’t heard before.

Anyone want to go see Dhoom 2?

Apparently this film is playing in UCC next Wednesday.. Now I’m kind of suspicious of these kind of films because the amount of ‘Hong Kong Legends’ dvds I have where the trailer looked exactly like this and yet the movie turned out to be dire is quite shocking. Anyway, what do you think?

The Scottish Falsetto Puppet Theatre does ‘Primeval’

I don’t even watch the show and this is hilarious…

Sin City - the recut & extended edition

Picked up this dvd yesterday in HMV. Have to admit that so far I’m pretty glad I waited for it to come out. Basically, it’s the original movie plus a few scenes that weren’t in the original movie that were cut out for time reasons I assume. The video posted gives you a feel for what the deleted scenes are like. What makes the dvd worthwhile though is the fact that each plot, whether it be the hard goodbye, that yellow bastard or any of the others are cut together as single ‘movies’. This means that the episodic nature of the original cut isn’t quite as annoying.

Juno & its surprisingly good soundtrack

the-juno-movie-poster_292x410.jpg
Saw Juno last night with one of the girls, while it’s not the sort of movie I’d go to see normally I have to admit I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. In tone, it’s quite similar to Amélie in the sense that while it is a romantic comedy its tone is rather different - it’s been a while since I’ve seen that many abortion jokes in the first 30 minutes of a movie…

Given that Valentine’s day is coming up,ye guys out there that are going to be stuck going to ‘romcoms’ could do worse, and for all of ye people who are into music the soundtrack for the film is unbelievably good - even during the parts of the movie where I was bored/getting uncomfortable with the ‘romcom’ elements/etc. the soundtrack proved highly entertaining.
Anyone Else But You - Pretty much THE stand-out song of the film.

The Dark Knight Trailer

Really good trailer here - it’s a pretty big one which is always cool. Still not sure that it can be better than the Jack Nicholson Joker tho…

Scorsese & Hitchcock - Key to Reserva

This is just… Odd.

In an advert for the Spanish company Freixenet, Martin Scorsese remakes 3.5 pages of an abandoned (and fictional) Hitchcock project
