Brussels, A Phd and some other crap…

I realise I haven’t been posting really at all lately, the joys of two jobs, a masters and trying to decide whether to do a phd and avoid the real world for a bit longer or try to find a job (some chance, you say) have proven to occupy my time somewhat. Heading to Brussels next weekend to see the EU parliament and some other stuff there, so I’m wondering, what would people recommend to see/do there? Bear in mind I’ll only be there for two and a half days so…

Revolution Cycle…

… is an event being run by a friend of mine Fearghal O’Nuallain. Here’s how the website describes it:

This November, Simon Evans and Fearghal O’Nuallain will begin the first Irish circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle. Their unsupported expedition will cover over 30,000km, passing through 30 countries and some of the highest, lowest, driest, coldest, warmest and loneliest places on earth. In doing so, they will be promoting the positive contribution that cycling can make to mental health and the environment, raising €100,000 for Aware and highlighting climate change

To get a feel for what the guys will be doing here’s their flickr site and a sample of their videos:

the number of abortions in the UK

From the BBC:

Government figures showed 193,737 women in England and Wales had an abortion in 2006.

Now I’m not anti-abortion by any means but that’s a pretty staggering number isn’t it?
