Cyanide and Happiness have been running a ‘depressing comic week’ all week and while most of them are only ‘ok’ mainly due to the fact that the fact that they suffer from ‘that’s depressing but is it really likely’ syndrome, today’s one though really hits the mark:

… Is a rather enjoyable short film by Kyle Higgins. Though a little bit simplistic in its plotting, and even though the ‘villains’ motivations don’t really make sense, it’s a great looking, well designed movie set in 1960′s Chicago about a superhero union. Fantastic Four Comics done in Audio Form from the 70′s

Definitely one of the stranger things that I have encountered in my recent memory. These seem to be audio adaptations of Marvel Comics done by Marvel themselves in the 70′s. A lot of them seem to be straight adaptations of the first 13 issues of the Fantastic Four comic. They even have an introduction by Stan Lee! Worth a listen. Group 1 is here and 2 here

Dead Space animated comic

This is a comic based on an upcoming video game. Yet it’s surprisingly enough actually quite good. I’m not quite sure why they decided to animate the comic (though that is something that seems to be becoming a trend) but the music and Ben Templesmith’s art actually combine to make quite a creepy experience.

Continuing Marvel Comics current stance of good works which they keep a fair bit of control over, here’s a sample video for a new ‘Black Panther’ cartoon. Heavily based off the new version of the comic that came out a few years ago, you can really see the John Romita Jr. artwork. There’s some interesting interviews here with some of the cartoon’s creators.
