America Jr.

I had heard about this webcomic before but never actually had a look at it. But today, having nothing better to do with myself and wanting to have a day where I didn’t do college related stuff ofr the first time in well … ages, I had a look through all 300 odd strips. (Well technically,I tried to do college stuff but was really not into it and decided to give myself the day off). Anyway, they’re pretty good, granted the last few strips befroe it went on a break (where it currently is at the moment) were a bit lacking in imagination, and the insistence they have on archiving all the weekend filler strips (even though most of the time its the same strip saturday and sunday and those same strips keep being repeated … ahhh) is a bit annoying. But the whole thing is pretty funny. Anyway, here’s some samples so take a look.

‘The Word’ on Obama’s ‘Race Speech’

Cian’s already talked about this, but Obama does it funnier (sorry Cian) (Also, I apologise for the fact that ‘funnier’ isn’t correct English)

Gutsville #1 - the full issue

One of the best single comic issues of last year recently became available online here. It’s always good to see such unique and talented voices like Frazer Irving and Simon Spurrier *make it* across in the U.S comic scene. And that final page … Genius.

A new ‘Dune’ movie?

Just as I was trying to kill some time today I wandered into waterstone’s to see if I could find ‘Sandworms of Dune’ the final book in the ‘Dune’ series. I’ve no idea if it’ll be any good but I seem to recall enjoying the previous book ‘Hunters of Dune’ so hopefully. Oddly enough then, after going and buying this book I see on Whitechapel that apparently there’s a new ‘Dune’ movie planned. While to be honest, I doubt anything will ever live up to the planned version by Alejandro Jodorowsky, the art for which would have been by Moebius, I’ll be quite interested to see how this version of the movie turns out…

Belly - Superconnected

I don’t really know what it is but I love the look of 90’s movies and music videos. They changed the film stock or something but you can really see the difference. But for certain music videos and movies (the Crow comes to mind) the end result these days is that it gives it a really piculiar feel…

A really good week on the Daily Show…

I really love the assessment of the ’sex scandals’ that they have here:

I love the ‘Elliot Spritzer’ Movie they have in this clip: Read the rest of this entry »

Bill Goldberg V Steven Regel

This 10 year old (the realisation of which makes me feel old as I remember WCW Nitro from this era) has achieved a certain degree of infamy as Regal was apparently fired for not allowing himself to be squashed by Goldberg in this match. Regardless, its a pretty entertaining greco-roman style match and worth a look and reminds me of why I hate the ‘power wrestling’ style thats common in American style wrestling as Goldberg is much more entertaining when he’s not simply just using the ‘punch, kick, spear, jackhammer’ combo that made up most of his matches…

Alex Guadino - Destination Calibria (Destination Unknown)

Probably one of the more suggestive music videos I can remember:
