Some nice moments of Sunday morning zen while I’m supposed to be writing an essay
You know, I actaually don’t know how to feel about Dustin getting Ireland’s Eurovision entry. It’s such a stupid event but that song is even worse than the normal crap…
Anyone want to go see Dhoom 2?
Apparently this film is playing in UCC next Wednesday.. Now I’m kind of suspicious of these kind of films because the amount of ‘Hong Kong Legends’ dvds I have where the trailer looked exactly like this and yet the movie turned out to be dire is quite shocking. Anyway, what do you think?
McCainenstein, It lives!!
The Scottish Falsetto Puppet Theatre does ‘Primeval’
I don’t even watch the show and this is hilarious…
well, fuck
My damn laptop just died. It seems to be a problem relating to the WindowsXP but to be honest, I’m not sure. All I know is that I count myself lucky to have gotten the two essays I have due this week onto the fucking usb key I have. It took me a week to get the computer up and running the last time I wiped it. Especially as half the drivers that I needed weren’t on the disks. Which means I’m stuck in UCC and it’s library. Which is a problem for several reasons:
1) There aren’t enough computers. It took me ten minutes of wandering around to get one and that was dumb luck. Christ knows how bad it is when its not Sunday
2) The baldy fucker beside me keeps giving me dirty looks. That might be because I am in such a black mood that it’s noticable. Or it could just be that like me, he hates having other people around him when he’s trying to work. Either way,he’d best watch himself or he’ll be punched. Repeatedly.
3) I can no longer listen to music loudly/drink/eat/wander around in my underwear as I work. This offends me greatly.
4) The sun is in my eyes
Anyway,I have two fucking essays that need writing. Fuck.
Sin City - the recut & extended edition
Picked up this dvd yesterday in HMV. Have to admit that so far I’m pretty glad I waited for it to come out. Basically, it’s the original movie plus a few scenes that weren’t in the original movie that were cut out for time reasons I assume. The video posted gives you a feel for what the deleted scenes are like. What makes the dvd worthwhile though is the fact that each plot, whether it be the hard goodbye, that yellow bastard or any of the others are cut together as single ‘movies’. This means that the episodic nature of the original cut isn’t quite as annoying.
Just some quick thoughts on the BBC interview with George W. Bush
It’s a pretty good interview and you can see the whole thing here.
Just a few things that I found interesting -Bush has a very utilitarian ‘end’s justify the means’ view of a lot of his policies. It just comes across in a lot of the things he says and the language he uses, especially relating to Iraq but also to Africa. There’s also the oddest echoes of Jimmy Carter in terms of how he talks about the ‘higher realism of helping Africa’ in the sense that securing African well-being safeguards America’s national interest. What’s also interesting to see is how surprisingly affable Bush is. Nearly too much at times such as when he off-handedly refers to the ‘Dali Lama crowd’ & uses the word ’suicider’ which is just .. awkward. Anyway, I still think he’s a horrible excuse for a President but it’s worth a look.
New Theme (Again)
So, what do people think? Also thanks to Gavin who helped my computer-illiterate ass with this.
Is it wrong that I *really* want this t-shirt?

Original site here. Also, what do people think of the new theme? Also, Gavin has the bulk of the photos from the last time this was topical. Enjoy
Steve Gerber is dead
He passed away over the weekend. Certainly one of the ‘odder’ lights in mainstream comics, his Howard the Duck being more like an underground comic than anything else. His ‘Hard Time’ also being a lot of what you wouldn’t expect. Anyway, there’s a pretty good article on his career here and here’s a link to his Howard the Duck, & Omega the Unknown
