The Rock Concert 1, 2 and the encore;

While some of ye may recognise the Rock from his roles in the ‘Scorpion King’ series of movies he got his start in the (now)WWE. Watching him do these skits you would have to wonder why he hasn’t done better as a movie star, I mean, he’s funny, sings, dances and acts! And in fairness,watching this is less effort than my current attemts to read up on ‘introducing ethical theory’ and ‘Islamism and Occidentalism’…
Part 1 - the sound quality on this clip isn’t great which is very very annoying..

Bill Clinton on the Daily Show;

Regardless of anything you can say about Clinton he’s a lot easier to listen to than George W. :

From the guys that brought you the ‘nee’ campaign…

I’ve talked about these guys before in various spots; here’s their current project - a ‘zero budget’ movie, this random clip isn’t too bad, has its moments of humour and it does look pretty good;

Ooops

I eventually got the music in my iTunes synched with the music in my external hard-drive;

25004 songs

ooops…..

I have a hard time believing that this is real but that makes it all the funnier;

The fact that the two contestants seem to be Priests of some sort adds to it doesn’t it?

Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay v William Regal

Amazing to hear the commentators saying that they want this match pulled ‘wide’ so you can’t see things too closely - really a sign of how different ‘mainstream’ pro wrestling has gotten in many ways. These days that match would have twice the blood and would be as up close as possible. Still a good fight though.

Witchblade: The Anime

The first episode available for free viewing here on IGN

But is it worth the watch even if its free? It’s not a bad show, very ‘porny’, watch the opening credits alone and you’ll get that! Its a bit distracting from the rest of the show, but hardly too much of a change from the source material in many ways. Lots of ’standard’ ideas from Anime - vaguely fascist governments, shadowy government agencies with dodgy methods, if not necessarily aims, destroyed Tokyo and so on. There are a few plots that are kind of weird; I mean I know the photographer is trespassing but surely it’d be better to own up to that than get accused of kidnapping? Also, the action sequence is kind of ‘easy’ - I mean, it is kind of obvious that the Witchblade has taken over our heroine when she fights the ‘Pulveriser’ but that she beats him so easy? There is such a thing as overselling your hero…

Anyway, its not that bad, though I’m not sure on the strength of this first episode that I’d bother looking for more. But if your an Anime fan at all, its 22 minutes of show and is probably worth a look before they take it down..

Definitely not safe for work

Very interesting interview here with Habakuk here who the sharp-eyed amongst you may have seen in both this blog and Cians blog. Anyway, its certainly an interesting look into a lifestyle that many people will find disturbing to say the least.

I have pierced myself for years, but I cannot have permanent ones yet. My new wife may allow me some in due course but she is scared of these things. I have made a special ring design around the root of the penis going through the skin just above the scrotum and I also have designs for permanent 4mm stainless steel pins — not rings — through the nipples to be connected with a string of beads to the penis rings. Maybe one day…

Robert Jordan is dead:

The ‘Wheel of Time’ and ‘Conan’ author passed away Sunday according to his website (which seems to be down at the moment). While I have to admit that I haven’t followed the last two or three of the books, feeling that they were being somewhat drawn out, his ‘Conan’ are some of the best stories after Robert Howard’s and are well worth a look. Certainly it is a major loss to the world of Fantasy writing as he has to be at this stage one of the greats up there with Tolkien and the like. Here’s the opening passage to the first book;

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose…. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of time.
But it was a beginning.”

The Kathy Griffen ‘Jesus’ thing…

Man, this is not a big deal, I actually cannot believe that this clip (shown on Larry King) caused such a fuss.. Its less offensive than most of the stupid shit that gets said at award shows anyway.. I mean, whatsherface, Halle Berry went crying and talking about ‘black people’ and something when she won her award so this is hardly that bad… Some interesting points in the clip about things like who exactly is censoring these sort of clips - especially the reference to ‘this goddamn war’…
