Like many other people I ended up watching this horror last night (I wanted to watch 28 days later – the sequel of which I should be going to see tonight) but my friend maintained it would be too scary for her (frankly I suspect the Eurovision is more disturbing). What impressed me most was how cranky the Eurovision made me – I swear, I haven’t been that bitchy and generally sexist and racist in a long time… Grounds for seeing the show banned for ‘social protection’ reasons? We can only hope.
Anyway the show was won by a small fat boy surrounded by some dubious-looking lesbians while the only entrant with the remotest sense of humor came a poor second.
I mean, with musical genius like that how could they lose?
Nice to see that everyone tried though, even though in some cases the acts were probably on something?
Smoked paranoia anyone?
My Swiss friend who I was watching the show with (she who thought that 28 days later would be more disturbing) maintains that this act is actually quite good but he just looks like he’s watched a few too many Ann Rice adaptions in his time..
I don’t mind this song but it does sound like about 4 other songs I’ve heard in various clubs at various times…
And continuing the history of ‘soft porn’ in the Eurovision
Also, in general I’m struck by the thought that there are definitely preachers in the United States who record the Eurovision and use it to preach about how the Europeans are a race of perverts and degenerates… Going by the Eurovision they might not be wrong..
Also, was I the only person who thought that for many of the acts it seemed to be that the greater the level of murder from one country to the next the higher the points they got from that country? Armenia and Turkey like? And others…
And on a final note – Linda Martin in a dress is possibly the most horrific thing I’ve seen on tv in a long time….
